$25,000 Engagement Ring Stolen From Home: Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19

$25K Engagement Ring Gone

A man reported at 4:43 p.m. that two rings and a bracelet were missing and possibly taken from the first block of Chestnut Avenue by a cleaning service. One of the rings was an engagement ring valued at $25,725, according to police. The other ring and bracelet were worth a total of $900. The incident is under investigation.

Homeless on Harris

Someone reported a suspicious male at 4:45 p.m. by the playground on the 300 block of Harris Avenue. Police located the man in the park — he said he was a member of PADS and YMCA and that he is transient, according to a report. He asked police to be taken to a PNC Bank location to withdraw money and take a Pace bus back into Chicago.

Golf Ball Gaffe

A juvenile on the first block of Arthur said he accidentally hit a golf ball into a yard on the 100 block of Indian Drive. The incident occurred at 5:29 p.m., and the homeowner on Indian Drive said the golf ball struck his or her vehicle. Police observed no damage, according to a report.

The homeowner said that this is an ongoing dispute between homes. The officer asked the juvenile to have his parents contact the police since they weren't home at the time of the incident.


Police Give Underage Drinker A Lift Home

Police saw two males possibly under 17 years old walking at 1:47 a.m. on the 200 block of Park Avenue. While checking IDs the officer observed an odor of alcohol on their breath. They said they had left a friend's house near Golf Avenue and were walking home to the 300 block of Alabama. They admitted to drinking beers, according to police. The officer decided not to ticket one of the men, who was 20 years old, and gave them a ride home.
