3 DUI Arrests, 25 Seat Belt Citations Reported During Hinsdale July 4 Crackdown

The increased enforcement period took place between June 28 and July 7. Here are all the numbers.

Hinsdale police charged three people with DUI and issued 58 various citations over its July 4 crackdown on drunk drivers and seat belt law violators.

The crackdown, which began June 28 and ran through July 7, netted the three DUI arrests and the following citations:

  • 25 seat belt violations
  • 18 for speeding
  • Two for uninsured motorists
  • 13 for other Illinois Vehicle Code Violations

Hinsdale's crackdown was part of the statewide, Independence Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket effort. The goal was to get drunk drivers off our roadways and encourage seat belt use, especially during late-night hours.

The Hinsdale Police Department joined forces with state and local law enforcement agencies in conducting the crackdown campaign featuring high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities including a media campaign and additional police activity.

Extra emphasis was given to the late-night hours when statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.

The recent law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
