Spot Where Boy on Bike Hit By Car Being Reviewed

The Village of Clarendon Hills said the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Middaugh Road is being evaluated after a collision last week.

The Clarendon Hills intersection of Chicago Avenue and Middaugh Road that was the scene of a car-on-bike collision Wednesday morning involving a 12-year-old boy is being evaluated by village officials who are considering "possible enhancements," a post to the Village of Clarendon Hills' Facebook page says.

A 17-year-old boy from Clarendon Hills whose vision was affected by sunlight hit a 12-year-old on a bike at 7:43 a.m. Wednesday while he was turning left at the the light from southbound Middaugh to eastbound Chicago. Jenkins said the 12-year-old Clarendon Hills Middle School student was crossing Chicago in the crosswalk when the collision occurred. 

The 12-year-old was transported to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Village Trustee Ed Reid, Village Manager Randy Recklaus, Police Chief Ted Jenkins, and Public Works Director Mike Millette met with District 181 officials today to discuss conditions at the corner of Middaugh and Chicago Avenue," the Facebook post reads. "An accident occurred on Wednesday when motorist failed to yield to a child with a bicycle in the cross walk due to poor visibility. A number of possible enhancements are being explored."
