Abbey Bott Died of 'Accidental Overdose,' Coroner Says

The Indiana University freshman from Clarendon Hills was found dead in her dorm room last month.

Abbey Bott, the Indiana University student from Clarendon Hills who was found dead in her dorm room on Oct. 6, died of an accidental overdose, according to Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer.

Meyer said in a statement Thursday, "Abigail Bott died as a result of an accidental overdose that is not alcohol related. There is no foul play suspected. The Monroe County Coroner’s Office has concluded its investigation of her death."

No other information will be released by the coroner, the statement reads.

The coroner released Bott's cause of death more than a month after the Hinsdale Central graduate was found unresponsive in her McNutt Quad dorm room. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

There was an outpouring of support for the Bott family after Abbey's death.

A vigil for Bott was held on the IU campus in Bloomington on Oct. 7 and bows were put up outside her dorm to honor her.

Another vigil was held for Bott in Clarendon Hills later that week.
