4 DUI Charges, 46 Seat Belt Violations Reported During Hinsdale Crackdown

The Thanksgiving crackdown took place from Nov. 18 to Dec. 1.

The following is a release from the Hinsdale Police Department:

Declaring Hinsdale Police Department’s participation in Illinois' annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" drunk driving crackdown and "Click It or Ticket" campaign a success, the Hinsdale Police Department reported four DUI charges, 46 citations for not wearing a seat belt, one citation for a child-safety-seat violation, three driving on a suspended license charges, eight citations for driving without insurance, 45 citations for speeding, one drug charge and 44 citations for other violations to the Illinois Vehicle Code during the enforcement period that ran from Nov. 18 to Dec. 1.

"I am proud of our officers for their hard work and dedication to making our community’s road safer," Chief Brad Bloom said. "Drunk driving is more than a reckless choice by a few individuals. Each year, drunk driving costs the lives of thousands on America’s highways. We’ll never have an objective number on how many injuries or deaths have been prevented as a result of our traffic safety enforcement efforts."

The Hinsdale Police Department joined forces with hundreds of police agencies across Illinois and nearly 10,000 law enforcement agencies across the country in this year’s "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

The recent law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
