Hinsdale Chamber Kicks off Uniquely Thursdays

Two Great Events Come Together for a One Night of Fun on June 6th!

(Hinsdale) - This year, the Hinsdale Farmers Market, Uniquely Thursdays and Hinsdale Fine Arts Festival all begin during the first week of June.  June 3rd opens the market, June 6th kicks off Uniquely Thursday and June 8-9 is the 40th annual Fine Arts Festival all located near Burlington Park in downtown Hinsdale.  In an effort to cross promote, the Hinsdale Chamber is featuring some of the top juried artists at the opening night of the Uniquely Thursdays summer concert series. 

On Thursday, June 6th, metal Sculpturist Fredrick Prescott will be on hand with his life size animal sculptures ranging in size from just 3 feet to over 40 feet in height.  A forklift is required to unload these pieces, which have recently been showcased at art shows in Naples, FL, Dallas, TX and Boulder, CO.     For photo opportunities go to: www.prescottstudio.com.   In addition, 2012 Hinsdale’s Best of Show award winning artist Tammy Deck will demonstrate her fiber work on the loom, along with Drawing & Painting artists Deeda Cordin working watercolors and Ed Tillrock working in pencil. 

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Hinsdale Fine Arts Festival and is one of the top juried Fine Arts shows in the Chicago land area.   Over 115 juried artists from across the United States  will exhibit and sell works of art in painting, jewelry, photography, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, and fiber arts. All artwork is original and has been created by the exhibiting artist.  Admission to the event is free. A designated area will spotlight Kids Activities sponsored by the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and the Healing Arts program.   In addition, three weeks prior to the show, the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital will display artwork in their north atrium from 12 different juried artists all participating in the show this year. 

The Hinsdale Chamber will launch the 11th season of Uniquely Thursdays presented by Ettleson Auto Group. This popular event is also sponsored in part by Hinsdale Bank & Trust Company, Normandy Remodeling, Renewal by Andersen, The Hinsdalean, Crawford Group Sotheby’s Int’l Realty, Suburban Life Media, The Doings, and the Village of Hinsdale.  CHT Orthodontics

Uniquely Thursdays begins a week earlier than normal on Thursday, June 6th and runs for ten weeks, (with no event on Thursday, July 4th) concluding on Thursday, August 15th. The music series is located in Burlington Park, just north of the train tracks, off Garfield and Chicago Avenues. 

There are 7 food vendors, a beer and wine tent and multiple table sponsors each week.  The sponsors promote their businesses by offering giveaways and children's. Admission is free.
