Experience the combination of thrill, fear and limitless possibilities that the launch of the first earth orbiting satellite, Sputkik, aroused in those who got their binoculars out to watch the tiny speck move across the sky in October of 1957 at a free screening of October Sky at the Clarendon Hills Library on Tuesday, August 6th at 6:30 pm.
Based on a true story, October Sky with a cast including Jake Gyllenhaal, Laura Dern and Chris Cooper, is a coming-of-age tale and a look back at that watershed moment in time.
