Tropical Sno Hinsdale to Return, Benefit Oklahoma Tornado Victims

The temporary shaved-ice spot announced on Facebook last week that it plans to open some time in the next few days in downtown Hinsdale.

Tropical Sno Hinsdale announced on Facebook last week it is returning for another summer of charitable refreshment.

The temporary shaved-ice stand run last summer by Hinsdale native and William & Mary student Patrick Williams will operate this year in the vacant space at 42 S. Washington St., where Savory Spice Shop operated until this spring.

"As we have in years past, we will continue to donate a portion of our proceeds to charity," the Friday Facebook post reads. "This summer we will team with the American Red Cross to help support the communities devastated by the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma. We're hoping this will be our best season yet, in order to help those Americans who are now left with nothing."

Last summer, Tropical Sno operated out of the 114 S. Washington St. space, just a block south of its new location, and benefited Charity Water, a nonprofit organization that builds freshwater wells for communities in Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia.

Tropical Sno said in a separate Monday afternoon Facebook post that residents can anticipate an opening on Monday, June 10.

"Keep an eye out around town—we'll have our sign up soon," the post reads.
