The Modern Dog Boutique Closing in Clarendon Hills
The pet store's owner attributed the closing to the tough economy in a Facebook post last week.
The Modern Dog Boutique in downtown Clarendon Hills is closing this month, according to a post on the business's Facebook page.
Owner Lila Mufti posted on June 25 a note on the page thanking her loyal customers.
"I have truly enjoyed getting to know you, your family, and listening to stories about your dog/s," the post reads. "Unfortunately, a struggling economy has made it difficult to continue. This last year has been particularly difficult and it has become apparent that I can not continue on."
The store at 29 S. Prospect Ave. will remain open throughout most of the month. In a tweet Tuesday, the business said its last day will be July 27.
"To every cloud there is a silver lining, and this one comes in the form of a sale," Mufti's Facebook post reads. "I need to get rid of inventory and clear out the store. I will have products on sale, up to 40% off."
The Modern Dog Boutique will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Fridays, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Saturdays it will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
