Victor Casini Steps Down As D86 Board President

Casini, who will continue to serve as a board member, said his resignation as president was based on his inability to meet the time commitment the role demands.

Victor Casini announced his resignation as District 86 board president at a meeting Monday night at Hinsdale Central.

He cited difficulty meeting the time commitment demanded of the president as his reasoning.

"I've found it impossible to devote adequate time to this position to do a sufficient job and at the same time stay employed with my other job," said Casini, who works as an attorney.

Casini said he resigned only as president, not as a member. He will remain on the board.

Vice President Claudia Manley took over as president after Casini formally submitted his letter of resignation to Superintendent Nick Wahl during Monday's meeting.

Casini has served as president since he began his first term on the District 86 board in May. He said setting the agenda and facilitating communication among board members were among the duties of the president he found to be overbearing.

"I misjudged, there's no question," Casini said. "For the good of the district, I thought [resigning] was the right move."

Ed Corcoran was elected by the board to replace Manley as vice president. He received four votes, while Kay Gallo received three.
