Hinsdale Public Library Bids Farewell to Longtime Librarian

For the past 13 years, Tiffany Verzani has served as the Youth and Young Adult Services Manager and Assistant Director at the Hinsdale Public Library. Between those two roles she has done everything from marching in Hinsdale’s Independence Day Parade handing out free children’s books to presiding over building renovations.

On August 5, she will take on a new role as Library Director of the Elmwood Park Public Library. “It has been my distinct honor to assist, encourage and guide the residents of Hinsdale and work side by side with amazing staff members for the past 13 years. Here, I have learned not only what it takes to be a good librarian, I have learned what it takes to be a good person. I know that the teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm for service and community building that I have fostered will continue. I’m thankful to you all and excited that I have the opportunity and good fortune to bring my skills and experiences to another community. Thus, I pay it forward, never forgetting my past – simply smiling and knowing I will be successful because of it.”

Tiffany has not only been the face of the Library, but the community as well. In 2006, she was one of the recipients of The Community House’s 50 under 50 Community Leadership Award. She has been awarded grants to enhance library services, formed partnerships with the Hinsdale Humane Society to bring therapy dogs into library programs, worked with nearby libraries to start the annual Kids Read community reading program and served on local and statewide library committees.

"Tiffany's expertise, enthusiasm, and deep knowledge of the community will be greatly missed,” says Karen Kleckner Keefe, Executive Director. “Her creative, professional work in the Youth Services department at Hinsdale Public Library has left an impact on thousands of young people. Some of her earliest storytime students are now in college and continue to send notes of thanks to ‘Miss Tiffany.’”

The Library is so grateful for Tiffany’s years of dedicated service and wish her the very best in her new position. Stop by the Youth Services Department to wish her well on Thursday, July 25 from 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
