The 30,000-square-foot home near the intersection of Plainfield and County Line roads was sold to a bank trust for a lot less than the original $25 million asking price, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The massive Villa Taj mansion at the corner of Plainfield and County Line roads in Burr Ridge was sold in November for $3.1 million, according to the Chicago Tribune, years after construction on the home was completed in 2009. The original asking price for the home, the Trib reported, was $25.1 million. A bank trust purchased the house, backed by a family that the Trib reported is not a celebrity family. "With a gold Jerusalem limestone exterior and a neo-Byzantine Moorish revival architectural style, the mansion, which was completed in 2009 and sits on 3.5 acres at a prominent intersection in Burr Ridge, is hard to miss," the Trib's Bob Goldsborough writes. Former Chicago White Sox designated hitter Jim Thome is selling his Hinsdale home and moving to Burr Ridge, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday. The Trib reports that the Thome family is selling their six-bedroom Hinsdale house for $3.8 million after paying $4.6 million for the more spacious seven-bedroom Burr Ridge home. The Thomes' new two-acre property contains an 8,154 square-foot house built in 2007 and an outdoor tennis court. The home has six full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a home theater, and a seven-car garage. According to the Trib, the Hinsdale house that Thome is trying to sell is 6,783 square feet and was built in 2004. Thome bought the home for $3.8 million in 2006.
