If I didn't see it done myself, I would have sworn Stevie Wonder hung my closet rods.
After almost six years in my house, I decided it was time to clean my closet. The only problem is my version of cleaning usually includes some sort of remodeling. In my head, the job was simple enough: I would reduce three walls of inaccessible hanging space to one well-organized wall by removing the rod from one, and installing it on the other. I even measured. As it turned out, the project was more archeology than architecture—the builder made a mess of the original job. Years ago, as the carpenter installed the rods, I walked into the room to tell him how I wanted the space configured. He told me he didn’t care and he was going to do what he wanted. Valentine’s Day is tomorrow? Oops!
I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is tomorrow! I feel like we just celebrated Christmas. I guess that’s what happens when you have a newborn; time flies in the blink of an eye! So here it is, the day before Valentine’s Day, and just like every other year, we’ve got zero plans. That’s exactly how I like it. If you ask me, I think there is way too much pressure on Valentine’s Day. Why should we wait until one day a year tell someone how much we love and appreciate them? Why not do romantic and thoughtful things all of the time? In my opinion, Valentine’s Day is almost like New Year's Eve: way too much hype and emphasis are put on one day, and when all is said and done, you are usually left a little disappointed.
