Hinsdale police reports, May 16-19
SUNDAY, MAY 19 Francisco Rodriguez, 21, of the 2900 block of North Pulaski, Chicago, was charged with DUI, DUI .08 or more, disobeying a stop sign and driving an uninsured vehicle. Police said they stopped Walters at 4:09 a.m. at 4th and Vine streets for disobeying a stop sign, according to a report. Rodriguez was observed to be under the influence of alcohol during the traffic stop. He submitted a breath sample with blood alcohol content over .08. He was charged and released to appear in court. A passenger in Rodriguez’s vehicle had a warrant for probation violation from Florida, the report said. The passenger was taken into custody and transported to the DuPage County Jail. Nearly 50 juveniles were issued citations for underage drinking at a May 10 party, Hinsdale police said. A total of 48 juveniles submitted to breath tests that indicated they had consumed alcohol. Police were dispatched at 8:07 p.m. to the party, which took place on the 700 block of North Oak Street, according to a report. "There were more than 50 people at the party," said Mark Wodka, Hinsdale deputy police chief, in an e-mail. "There were attendees that fled prior to and upon police arrival." WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13 Someone from Texas withdrew $3,000 from a resident's checking account. The incident was reported at 7:13 p.m. from the 500 block of West Ninth Street. Someone made six fraudulent purchases totaling $1,847.13 using a credit card number from a resident on the first block of North Clay Street. The purchases were made between Feb. 13 and 12:29 p.m. March 13. MONDAY, MARCH 11 Scott D. Walters, 31, of the first block of Ivy Lane, Oak Brook, was charged with DUI, DUI .08 or more and improper lane usage. Police said they stopped Walters at 10:54 p.m. on the 600 block of West Ogden Avenue for improper lane use when he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. He submitted a breath sample with a BAC over .08 and was released to appear in court. Provisions of an Illinois law expands on parents' responsibilities to prevent underage drinking on their property.
A law taking effect Jan. 1 targeting underage drinking will crack down on parents who allow minors to drink anywhere on their property, expanding on the current law that specifies it is illegal to let minors drink at their home. The expanded law makes it a misdemeanor carrying a $500 fine for any adult to knowingly permit minors under the age of 21 to drink alcohol on their property or in their home. If the violation results in bodily harm or death, the adult will be charged with a felony, according to a press release from the City of Wheaton. THURSDAY, NOV. 22 A 17-year-old male from Hinsdale was charged with possession of cannabis and several other offenses after he was spotted in Highland Park on Nov. 22 at 12:08 a.m., after the park had closed, and fled from an officer who approached him, police said. The juvenile was located shortly after and taken into custody. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was in possession of chewing tobacco and a substance that tested positive for cannabis. SUNDAY, SEPT. 2 Clemente Morales, 51, of the 100 block of north 11th Avenue, Melrose Park, was arrested around 1 a.m. on northbound Route 83 between 59th and 55th streets, police said. WEDNESDAY, AUG. 29 A resident came to the police department at 7:33 a.m. and reported that on Aug. 28, he noticed that an unknown person was trying to open a fraudulent credit card with the resident's American Express account information. The resident suffered no money loss.
