Two Burglaries Reported at Hinsdale Apartment Complex: Police Blotter

Forced entry was used in both incidents, police said. Here are more details.

Police are investigating two burglaries at a Hinsdale apartment complex that investigators think might be related. The burglaries both involved forced entry in a detached area of the complex, located on the 300 block of West 59th Street. One of the structures was a garage and the other was a maintenance area, according to Hinsdale police. "We believe that they're probably related and probably committed by the same person," Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said of the burglaries. "The maintenance shed and the garage are in close proximity to each other." The garage incident took place sometime between 7 p.m. April 3 and 9:15 a.m. April 30. THURSDAY, APRIL 25 An unknown person at 7:47 p.m. banged on the door of a home on the 500 block of Willowcreek Court. The person said they were going to change the locks on the home, according to a neighbor. The homeowner, who was away at the time of the incident, said she is in good financial standing for the home. Police will follow up with the neighbor for a description when he or she is available. An officer told the owner to call police right away if the person is seen again. Police responded to two solicitor complaints related to the same company. The first was at 3:35 p.m. on the first block of Chestnut Avenue. FRIDAY, APRIL 26 Frank R. Sasek, 21, of the 5500 block of Harvey Avenue, LaGrange, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol over .08, and improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police at 11:38 p.m. stopped Sasek at 55th Street and Grant for improper lane usage. He was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and submitted a breath test over .08., police said. Sasek was charged and released. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24 James T. Vanek, 19, of the 300 block of Forest Road, Hinsdale, was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug equipment. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24 A woman at 3:48 p.m. found two kids target arrows in her backyard on the 300 block of Ridge Avenue.  Police found that some children next door play "Harry Potter with bows/arrows," according to a police report. An officer spoke with parents at the children's address and advised them of the proper ordinances and supervising their children's safety. This is an ongoing issue between neighbors, the report said. Police were dispatched at 6 a.m. for a report of a coyote seen running in the area of Chestnut and Waverly. They were unable to locate the coyote. SATURDAY, APRIL 20 Oscar Carrillo-Llanos, 33, of the 100 block of East Maple, Hinsdale, was charged with driving while license revoked. He was pulled over at 2:41 p.m. at Garfield and Chicago after an officer recognized him from a previous DUI arrest. He was charged and released to appear in court. FRIDAY, APRIL 19 Steven Paul Webb, 56, of the 11500 block of Villa Court, Alsip, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
