The Hinsdale home of state Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is among those that have been burglarized this year and the senator says he's pushing for state legislation that will help local law enforcement investigate such burglaries. "I am trying to curtail the number of residential burglaries which has swept through the western suburbs ... and other parts of the city," Dillard said during a Friday morning conference call with media members. Dillard said by talking with suburban police officials he has learned that most of the residential burglars that have victimized residents in Hinsdale and the surrounding area steal jewelry they quickly sell to cash-for-gold businesses. While November's elections are important, GOP leaders gathered at Republican National Convention say they're focused on strengthening the party for the long term.
TAMPA, FL — With President Barack Obama carrying Illinois by 25 percentage points in 2008 and with a new poll showing him leading Mitt Romney by about the same margin, one might think there's not much joy among delegates and party leaders gathered here for the Republican National Convention this week. And while even the reddest of the Republicans acknowledges that GOP presidential candidate Romney has little chance of carrying Illinois, those in Tampa stress that they're focused on building the party for 2014 and beyond. "The presidential race will be an uphill climb for us," said state party Chairman Pat Brady, adding that Republicans are concentrating their efforts more on congressional and state legislative races this fall. "In 2014, we…

Dillard, a Hinsdale native, has represented the 24th District in the Illinois Senate since 1993.
State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is pondering another run for governor, according to a Daily Herald story published on Aug. 17. Dillard says his first priority is to get re-elected to his 24th Senate District seat in November—he's going up against Democrat A. Ghani—but at a recent Springfield event, the Herald quoted the senator as saying he's having talks "to assess what 2014 looks like." The Hinsdale native, who has represented the 24th since 1993, cited his experience as former Gov. Jim Edgar's chief of staff as something that makes him a good gubernatorial candidate, as well as his personal background. “I think the right template for the election of a Republican governor is a suburbanite with very strong downstate roots,” Dillard …

I would like to extend my congratulations to Senator Kirk Dillard in his victory this past Tuesday. On account of redistricting, we all faced difficult decisions and very unfortunate contests. While the race was spirited, it has been decided by the voters and they have decided on Senator Dillard. I welcome him into the new communities that I represent and ask that all of the people who supported me, welcome him as enthusiastically as I am. It's time to make sure that our party brings a unified voice to Springfield to accomplish the serious business of getting our state back on track. I believe Senator Dillard will be a leader in that effort as my new State Senator. Sincerely, Chris Nybo Candidate for State Senate District 24
