The 2012 Hinsdale South graduate was shot and killed Monday night on the grounds of the Hinsdale Lake Terrace apartment complex where he lived.
On Monday night, several Hinsdale South students who live at the Hinsdale Lake Terrace apartment complex in unincorporated Willowbrook watched as a friend and former classmate was gunned downed on the grounds of the apartment community off Route 83. Twenty-four hours after a fellow resident was gunned down in their apartment complex, members of the Hinsdale Lake Terrace community gathered at the site where it happened. Stuffed animals were placed on the curb next to where 18-year-old Joshua Holmes fell after he had been shot. White paint covers the spot where the 2012 Hinsdale South graduate's blood had spilled on the pavement. It was about 6:30 p.m. Monday when neighbors of the apartment complex heard the sound of gunshots. It was a nice night out, with temperatures in the high 60s, so dozens of young people were out enjoying the weather. An 18-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night near the intersection of Honeysuckle Rose and Lilac lanes in unincorporated Willowbrook, according to a release from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's officers responded at approximately 6:35 p.m. to a report of gun shots being fired in the area, the release reads. The sheriff's office cites witnesses who said they saw a handgun fire several shots from a white four-door vehicle that had approached the intersection. The victim was Joshua Holmes, who lived nearby on Honeysuckle Rose. He was transported to Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Friends who knew Kelli O'Laughlin since kindergarten will miss her.
About a dozen Lyons Township High School freshmen tied white ribbons around trees in front of the school in Western Springs Friday afternoon. "They're white, because white is pure, just like Kelli," said Abby, a friend of fellow freshman Kelli O'Laughlin, 14, who was murdered after getting home from school on Thursday. The group of students are remembering Kelli by putting together scrapbooks of their times together, and a memorial Facebook page has been created. The body of 14-year-old girl Kelli O'Laughlin was found Thursday afternoon in an Indian Head Park Home; police are investigating her death as a homicide.

Indian Head Park police are investigating the death of a Lyons Township High School freshman as a homicide, police told media outlets on Thursday. As someone who was in a classroom of 10 with Josh, I can't believe my eyes. I had no idea about this until I was browsing my friends pictures until I saw his face and the words RIP JOSH underneath.
