Ask a Stylist: What Hairstyle is in this Holiday Season?

In the latest edition of Patch's "Ask a Stylist" series, Salon Hype owner Ross Bartolomei tackles hairstyles for the holiday season.

Question: What's in for holiday hair in 2012? Answer: Holiday hair is fun and 60s inspired this season. With this look you definitely want to show off your neck line and shoulders. Hair is off the face slightly, teased on top, and pulled back into a pony tail. With the pony tail, there are a couple of options. It can be curled, and I'm talking about spiral, large loose curls, or the pony tail can be loosely braided down off the front of one shoulder. Santa Coming to KLM Park in Hinsdale Saturday

The Hinsdale Parks and Recreation Department's Breakfast with Santa event is set for 9 a.m. at the Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge.

The following is a release from the Village of Hinsdale Parks and Recreation Department: Santa is making a last minute stop by the beautiful Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 8, to check who has been naughty or nice.  Join us for an intimate morning visit with Santa at 9 a.m. The event will include picture opportunities with Santa and a light breakfast that includes donuts, bagel, juices and coffee.  Crafts will also be provided. Pre-registration is required.  The fee is $13 for Hinsdale residents and $18 for non-residents. All participants age 2 and over need to register.  Register online at www.villageofhinsdale.org/pr, by fax to 630-789-7016, by mail, or in person at the parks and recreation office.

Tips to Make It a Safe and Merry Holiday

The DuPage County Health Department offers tips to ensure trees, decorations and lights look pretty and work safely.

Those holiday decorations are beautiful to look at with lights twinkling and tinsel sparkling. Taking steps to make sure the lights, decorations and trees are used properly will make the holidays safer.  When decorating for the holidays its important to take safety measures to keep all the sparkle from going up in flames or causing family members injury, according to officials. Santa Claus, Mariachi Band Highlight Hinsdale Christmas Walk

The annual Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce event took place Friday night from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. downtown.

The 47th annual Hinsdale Christmas Walk took place Friday night in downtown Hinsdale.  Among the attractions at the event, put on by the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, were the arrival of Santa Claus on a Hinsdale Fire Department truck, the tree-lighting ceremony, and a mariachi band outside CiNe Modern Taqueria. Linly Designs Does Holiday Decorating on WGN Midday News

The Clarendon Hills interior design business' showroom manager joined Steve Sanders for WGN's "Midday Fix" segment Thursday.

Showroom manager Jennifer Sterna of Linly Designs in Clarendon Hills was on WGN Midday News Thursday, giving tips on decorating a home for the holidays during the "Midday Fix" segment. The video can also be found here on WGN's website. 

Hinsdale Nonprofit Seeking Gift-Wrappers for Holiday Fundraiser

HCS Family Services in Hinsdale needs volunteers to wrap gifts for Oakbrook Center shoppers this Christmas season in an effort to raise money for the nonprofit.

The folllowing is a release from HCS Family Services: HCS Family Services in Hinsdale is seeking energetic people to support a seasonal fundraiser by wrapping holiday gifts for shoppers at Oakbrook Center. We need volunteers for several shifts each day. Days and times listed below. Individuals and organizations are invited to sign up for as many shifts as they would like. Wrapping paper and supplies will be provided by Oakbrook Center and all donations will go directly to HCS Family Services!
