SATURDAY, MAY 11 A man on the 100 block of North Garfield misplaced a coin purse and a car key with a “Speedpass” on the key ring. The incident occurred sometime between 8 a.m. May 4 and 2:57 p.m. on this day. The man noticed a $1 charge on the Speedpass and canceled the account. THURSDAY, MAY 9 A portable work bench, jack, chainsaw and step stool were taken from a man's storage locker in a parking garage on the 1400 block of Burr Oak Road. The incident occurred sometime between noon April 6 and 4:30 p.m. on this day. Someone took a wallet, iPhone, $30 in gift cards and $177 in cash from a man's unlocked vehicle on the 400 block of Warren Terrace, police said. MONDAY, MAY 6 Alexander L. Cummins, 43, of the 100 block of East Hickory, Hinsdale, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage. Police at 11:03 p.m. stopped Cummins at Washington Street and Chicago Avenue for driving on the wrong side of the road, according to a report. He was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and refused a breath test, police said. He was charged and released to appear in court. Someone took a radio detection transmitter from the parkway on the 800 block of West Fourth Street. The incident occurred sometime during a 30-minute period that began at 11:20 a.m., according to police. Two Burglaries Reported at Hinsdale Apartment Complex: Police Blotter

Forced entry was used in both incidents, police said. Here are more details.

Police are investigating two burglaries at a Hinsdale apartment complex that investigators think might be related. The burglaries both involved forced entry in a detached area of the complex, located on the 300 block of West 59th Street. One of the structures was a garage and the other was a maintenance area, according to Hinsdale police. "We believe that they're probably related and probably committed by the same person," Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said of the burglaries. "The maintenance shed and the garage are in close proximity to each other." The garage incident took place sometime between 7 p.m. April 3 and 9:15 a.m. April 30. Hinsdale Police Announce Fifth Drug Take-Back Day

Once again, the Department will collect and dispose of any unwanted or expired meds. The upcoming date is April 27.

The Hinsdale Police Department announced last Monday that it will be holdingits fifth National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a program in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, that has become increasingly popular in local communities over the past few years. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, the Department will be collecting any unwanted or expired prescription meds for destruction at its headquarters (121 Symonds Drive, Hinsdale). Any type of (legal) pills and capsules are accepted, and the process is anonymous—no questions asked. Liquids, injectibles and syringes, however, cannot be taken. To dispose of meds in their original container, contributors are requested to remove any information from the label. "…

Someone tried to use a resident's identity to make a purchase at an appliance store in Ohio. The store employees contacted the resident before the transaction was approved. MONDAY, APRIL 8 A staff member for a school near Hickory and Mill Streets reported a known male suspect ignored his directions while he was assisting with traffic control for after school pick-up, and accelerated his vehicle in the direction of the victim.

SUNDAY, MARCH 17 Hesham El Defrawy, 48, of the 200 block of West 59th Street, Hinsdale, was charged with DUI, DUI with a BAC greater than .08, driving while license suspended and improper lane use. Police stopped El Defrawy at 3:03 a.m. on the 5600 block of South Madison Street for improper lane use when he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. He submitted a breath sample with a BAC over .08, was charged and released to appear in court. SATURDAY, MARCH 16 Emmanuel A. Salazar, 26, of the first block of Palmer Court, Bolingbrook, was charged with DUI, possession of cannabis, speeding and driving too fast for conditions. Lee, 35, of the 1100 block of Plainfield Road, Countryside, was charged with DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a stop for improper lane use near the intersection of 55th Street and County Line Road at 9:28 p.m., and failed an ensuing breath test, police said. SATURDAY, NOV. 24 Someone damaged a minivan parked in a driveway in the 800 block of South Grant Street between 9 p.m. Nov. 23 and 11 a.m. Nov. 24, police said. The cost of the damage was not known at the time of the report. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 21 Someone did $800 in damage to decorative light poles and damaged lawn ornaments including a wrought-iron bench and a stone planter in front of four homes on Princeton Road and Hillcrest Avenue overnight between Nov. 20 and Nov. 21, police said. Two of the homes were in the 300 block of Hillcrest, and one each was in the 100 block of Hillcrest and the 300 block of Princeton. $5,800 Stolen from Hinsdale Resident's Accounts: Police Blotter

Hinsdale police reports, Oct. 9-15.

FRIDAY, OCT. 12 A resident from the 10 block of Camberley Court reported that $5,832.49 worth of fraudulent transactions were performed using the resident’s credit card account and her bank account between Sept. 5 and Oct. 12. The four transactions were not identified as fraudulent before they occurred, police said, so the money loss is real. Police do not know if the resident has been reimbursed by the bank or credit card company. There are no suspects and police do not have enough information at this time to determine if the same person is behind the fraudulent use of both accounts.
