Great Gatsby Theme Set for HJWC's 2013 Gala

The organization's annual benefit will take place Feb. 9 and raise money for Hephzibah Children's Association in Oak Park.

Casino games and cabaret singers, flappers and fortune-telling—the Roaring '20s will return for one night next month when the Hinsdale Junior Woman's Club (HJWC) holds its 2013 benefit with a Great Gatsby theme. The Gatsby Gala will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the The Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook. The $125-per-person event will benefit Hephzibah Children's Association, a group home and foster placement nonprofit organization in Oak Park.  TICKETS are still for sale on the HJWC website.  With the latest movie-version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel The Great Gatsby set for a May release, it's the perfect time for a Roaring '20s theme. When we first moved to Clarendon Hills in October 2010, we didn’t really know what to expect. We had heard wonderful things about the community from our realtor, Mike Long, but other than that, we didn’t know a thing (or anyone)! What we did know is that we LOVED the area and the schools were top-notch. So we made the offer and moved in shortly thereafter. Once we were settled, I got to work on our social calendar—or lack thereof. I knew that if I wanted us to plant our roots, I was going to need to step out of my comfort zone and get out of the house to meet some other people.
