The West Suburban Silver champs start their IHSA playoff run Wednesday night in Wheaton.
The Hinsdale Central boys basketball team wrapped up an 18-6 regular season Wednesday night, which is good enough for a No. 5 seed in the Bolingbrook Sectional and a first-round bye in the Wheaton Warrenville South Regional that begins next week. On Wednesday, Feb. 27, the Red Devils will face the winner of Monday's game between No. 12 seed Geneva and No. 21 seed Wheaton Warrenville South. The four Bolingbrook Sectional teams seeded ahead of Hinsdale Central, in order, are Oswego, Benet, Neuqua Valley and West Aurora. See the full IHSA boys basketball 4A playoff brackets here. It's the Red Devils first West Suburban Silver championship since 2000, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Brian Owens scored 17 points, Matt Rafferty scored 15, and the Hinsdale Central Red Devils clinched their first West Suburban Silver boys basketball title since 2000 with a 54-39 win over York Tuesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. WATCH: iHigh's broadcast of Tuesday night's game. The Red Devils advanced their conference record to 10-1 with the win, Sun-Times reports, two games better than the second-place Dukes' 8-3 mark. Next up will be a crossover game with the West Suburban Gold champ on Feb. 20. Overall, Hinsdale Central is 17-5 and has won 11 straight, according to the Sun-Times.
