More than 46 area businesses have donated items for a raffle that will raise money for the Kelli Joy O'Laughlin Memorial Fund.

A fundraiser will be held tonight at Mattone Restaurant and Bar in La Grange Park to raise money for the Kelli Joy O'Laughlin Memorial Fund. The 14-year-old Lyons Township freshman was killed after she walked in on a burglary in her own home last month. Forty-six area businesses have donated items that will be raffled off to raise money for the fund that has been set up in her memory. "Everybody that we've talked to about participating with a donation has been happy and eager to be a part of the event," said Erica Alletto, one of the coordinators for the fundraiser. Alletto's brother Johnny and her husband Frank, Lyons Township High School graduates and members of the Acoustic-rock cover band Jank, were scheduled to play at Mattone …

Tom Reasoner was among hundreds of police officers who spent hours on the roofs of Dunkin' Donuts across Chicagoloand Friday.
Hundreds of police officers from all over the Chicago area joined efforts to raise money for Special Olympics Friday, including one who might look familiar to Clarendon Hills residents. Tom Reasoner, who was a police officer in Clarendon Hills for 25 years and police chief for 16, joined the effort as officers across the state camped out on Dunkin' Donuts rooftops from 5 a.m. to around 2 p.m. in their communities. Reasoner, who is now a deputy director at North East Multi-Regional Training, which provides training to law enforcement personnel throughout the Chicagoland area, said he was happy to spend a few hours on the roof of the Bensenville Dunkin' Donuts on Route 83 in order to help a good cause. The community came out for a spin-a-thon to raise funds for Hinsdale South youth.
Nearly 100 people woke up early to devote part of their Saturday raising money for an organization that aims to support young people when they need it the most. Hinsdale South Young Life, a faith-based non-profit, provides mentors and activities for students who attend Hinsdale South. The organization held a spin-a-thon at the Five Season Sports Club in Burr Ridge Saturday to raise funds. It cost $50 a person for every 50-minute indoor cycling session. Several riders cycled through for all four sessions. “I know in my past, I haven’t been the goodest of children..and this just gives me somewhere to go," said 15-year-old Hinsdale South student Victoria D'Andrea. “It helped me stay out of trouble.” D'Andrea said she knows a lot of kids in …

On Saturday, students, faculty, staff, and parents of Hinsdale Central were the target of Second City's comedy routine. During two shows in the school's auditorium, the legendary comedy troupe performed skits that reflected life at Hinsdale Central in a benefit for the HCHS Booster Club. The five actors incorporated Hinsdale Central teachers and even student-approved slang into their skits, which also included audience participation and improvisation. One improvisation featured two actors trying to guess a noun, a verb and an adjective. The audience and other actors knew the three words, so the actors pantomimed the words while the audience encouraged them by clapping.
