TUESDAY, FEB. 12 The Clarendon Hills Park District reported at 8:50 a.m. that a vandal spray-painted graffiti onto the north side of the picnic pavilion at Prospect Park, police said. Painted onto the wall in white, police said, were a duck saying "Moo," and the word "Fresh." Removal is expected to cost the park district $100. A woman stole 10 steaks worth $150 from Jewel, 303 Holmes Ave., at around 11:40 a.m., police said. The thief fled in a car driven by an accomplice. SUNDAY, FEB. 10 Shamika S. Kroger, 21, of the 1100 block of South Williams Street, Westmont, was charged with driving on a revoked license after a traffic stop for following too closely near the intersection of Route 83 and 55th Street at 2:13 a.m., police said. Hinsdale police reports, Feb. 5-11.
THURSDAY, FEB. 7 Two 16-year-old female Hinsdale Central students, one from Clarendon Hills and one from Westmont, were cited for fighting after the school resource officer responded to the two pushing and fighting near the high school’s main entrance at 3 p.m., police said. The students were referred to a juvenile diversion court program, where they’ll go in front of a peer jury. Police said they were not charged as adults. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 6 A 15-year-old male Hinsdale Central student was cited for theft after he was found with an iPhone that was taken after being left accidentally on a classroom countertop within the school at 9:45 a.m., police said. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 28 A resident came to the police department at 8:16 p.m. to report that someone had used her credit card information to make $550 worth of purchases on Newegg.com, police said. Prospect Ave., reported at 3:20 p.m. that her medications and winter gloves were taken out of her coat pocket, police said. There are no suspects. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 14 A woman admitted to police she planned on stealing $2,600 worth of items from Jewel-Osco, 303 Holmes Avenue, that she had collected in a cart while at the grocery store. Employees of the store became suspicious of the shopper, whose cart was filled with items like teeth whiteners and allergy medications from the pharmacy section of the store, and alerted police, who confronted her. She was not charged. A resident from the 400 block of Traube Avenue reported to police at 3:27 p.m. that a UPS package containing an $85 sweater was never received despite being delivered, according to UPS, on Oct. 25. Several similar incidents where UPS packages appear to have been stolen after delivery have been reported in Clarendon Hills…

The 53-year-old Elk Grove Village resident allegedly began the fight over an outstanding debt and struck the victim in the face.
Fighting—Timothy M. Clock, of 1920 Higgins Rd. in Elk Grove Village, was charged with breaking a local fighting ordinance after he instigated an altercation with a 33-year-old male victim while outside the Hinsdale Food Mart, 5823 S. Madison St., at 7:35 p.m. Feb. 25, according to the Hinsdale Police Department. Clock, 53, wrestled with the victim and struck him in the face, Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said, causing injury. The fight was apparently over an outstanding debt owed to Clock by the victim. A third-party witness saw the fight going on, Wodka said, and reported it to police. The victim did not require medical attention and was not charged with any offenses. Clock was taken into custody, charged and released with a court date. DUI—…

Speakers at the District 86 board meeting countered statements about fighting, drug use.

Is there a problem with fighting and illegal drug use at Hinsdale South High School? District 86 Board Member Dianne Barrett asserted at last week’s Committee of the Whole meeting that there was. Thanks for the facts, Patch. I think we can all agree that violence of any kind is a symptom of immaturity, and that South and all schools need to continue to encourage reasonable ways for students to vent, problem solve, and use energies productively.
