Check out some of the most interesting posts we found for Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and Lemont.
The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and Lemont area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. If “Game of Thrones” had been conceived by Wayne Gretsky, the seat of the Seven Kingdoms might look something like this chair, going for $350 out of Burr Ridge. The frame is almost entirely made of hockey sticks, with pucks for the base. A perfect chair from which to cheer on the Blackhawks (go Hawks!) This unorthodox coffee table from a Darien seller might look misshapen, but it’s carved from a single California redwood and is seriously huge—status symbol extraordinaire. (For some reason, in…

Someone in Downers Grove is selling their entire Campbell’s Soup collectibles collection, over 40 pieces of various Campbell’s memorabilia, for $375. “I love my Campbell Soup, but am ready for a change!” the seller proclaims. To what, Progresso? Somewhere along the line, it became generally accepted that clowns are no longer funny and are now universally considered creepy. (Do we all blame J. W. Gacy for that one?) If so, this guy …

I was just remembering being young enough to fit in a little toy airplane ride like this one going for $165 out of Downers Grove. Never spend quarters outside a supermarket anymore, just plug in the batteries! … Uh, do they still have those quarter rides outside supermarkets? I never see one anymore. What happened to those? America, [expletive] yeah! Comin’ in here, to save the—well, you know how it goes. This very, very patriotic queen…

Army Spc. Adam Tomanovich was greeted home from his first tour of duty in Afghanistan with fanfare by the students and faculty of the Clarendon Hills elementary school.
Students and staff at Walker School came out in force last Monday to welcome Army Spc. Adam Tomanovich, the son of Walker teacher Deanne Tomanovich, home from his first tour in Afghanistan, the Suburban Life reports. According to the paper, Spc. Tomanovich, 20, of Westmont, spent the last nine months working with local Afghanis to prepare them for American withdrawal, and will leave for Germany at the end for the month after enjoying “a home-cooked meal and some sleep.” He was greeted at Walker in full uniform with patriotic music blasting and students filling the halls waving American flags, the paper said. “I really didn’t know it was going to be like [this],” Tomanovich told the paper. “I thought it was going to be a couple kids, so it …

Okay, he’s not really an actual bear, but this fuzzy four-foot mount going for $250 out of Downers Grove might be the best Sunday game day buddy possible: he’s polite, spirited, good for celebratory (or mournful) hugs, and is guaranteed to never steal all the guacamole dip. Is your kid a “Cars” fan? Or perhaps just a cars fan? Well, this bed isn’t exactly Lightning McQueen, but I bet a lot of kids 2-8 years old …

This 1940’s go-cart racer was half-restored, but never finished, by a Lemont father and son. It looks boring now, but imagine it with an awesome Speed Racer paint job! Comes with chrome pipes and bumper, stainless-steel moldings and a kick-start engine “that runs good,” all for $500. Remote-controlled airplanes are all well and good, but why do they have to look like boring old planes? Why not, say, killer sharks? I can’t tell you why it was never opened, because 40 feet of range sounds like…

A few roads remain closed in the Village of Clarendon Hills as of Thursday afternoon.
The following is a press release from the Village of Clarendon Hills: The Village continues to monitor the flooding event that has impacted large portions of Clarendon Hills. The Village’s storm drainage system is operating as intended, but it is simply beyond capacity due to the high volume and short time period in which the rain fell. Police and Fire personnel will continue to monitor the situation, and Public Works crews will remain on call to respond to issues. This event has impacted many homes and businesses. For your safety, residents are reminded to use caution near flood waters. Do not attempt to drive or walk through standing water. Do not enter flooded basements due to concerns of electrocution. Please call 911 if you have …
How crazy is it out there right now? Please show us! Upload your pictures of flooding from DuPage County towns here.
Note: when uploading photos/video, please include a caption with the town and street where they were taken. Thank you! By 7 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service in Romeoville had the total rainfall amount at 3.24 inches for the previous 24 hours. Then it rained some more. And it's not forecast to stop until Friday morning. What does the scene look like for you? Are there several feet of water outside your home (or, heaven forbid, inside it)? Stranded cars; flooded lawns and streets? If you’re lucky enough not to be too busy dealing with any emergencies right now (and we hope you are), we’d love to see what you see, and our readership likely would as well. If you have any great snapshots/photographs of the flooding around DuPage …
