A machine at the US Bank was reported damaged for the second time in just over a month, police said.
A downtown Hinsdale ATM was targeted for the second time in about a month, according to police. Someone damaged an ATM at US Bank, 21 W. 2nd St., in an attempt to gain access to the machine. The incident occurred sometime between 6 p.m. March 7 and 7:45 a.m. March 8, according to a March 8 police report. The initial incident occurred sometime between 10:33 a.m. Feb. 3 and 10 a.m. Feb. 4. A bank employee discovered scratches and pry marks on the machine on Feb. 4, and the incident was reported to the Hinsdale Police Department on Feb. 5. A home in the 500 block of North Garfield Street was broken-into Sunday evening, Hinsdale Police say.
Jewelry and money were taken from a burglarized home in the 500 block of North Garfield Street between 5:30 p.m. and 7:43 p.m. Sunday, Hinsdale Police Department officials say. Some time during that two-hour timeframe, Deputy Chief Kevin Simpson said, a burglar broke into the home by prying open a rear door and took a jewelry box and change holder in the house’s master bedroom. “Multiple rooms were ransacked,” Simpson said. Nobody was home at the time of the burglary. The homeowners reported the incident the same night, and Simpson said the police department is still waiting on a complete list of missing items. Burr Ridge resident Daniel Swayka was also found to be in possession of a shotgun and 900 rounds of ammunition without a valid gun-owner's license, police said.
A Burr Ridge man was charged with possession of stolen property after police found him to be in possession of one of more than 20 guns stolen during a burglary last September, according to a release from the Burr Ridge Police Department. Daniel R. Swayka, 20, of the 16W200 block of 94th Street, Burr Ridge, surrendered to police Thursday afternoon. A warranted search of his home by police on Feb. 8 turned up a pistol that was among the items stolen from a Burr Ridge home during a Sept. 27 burglary in the 120 block of Circle Ridge. Sgt. WEDNESDAY, FEB. 20 A customer of TCF Bank reported to police at 4:07 p.m. that, after depositing a check at the bank's branch at Jewel-Osco, the exact amount was withdrawn from the account by an unknown person the same day. Police said the victim filed a police report as part of the bank's reimbursement process. TUESDAY, FEB. 19 Police said four tickets to a March 9 Pink concert worth a combined $1,180 were stolen from a resident in the 0-100 block of Blodgett Avenue by an unknown person in October, after UPS delivered the tickets but before the resident picked them up. SUNDAY, FEB. 10 Conor E. Brennan, 21, of the 3900 block of North Grant Street, Westmont, was charged with DUI after police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for improper lane use near the intersection of Monroe and 55th streets at 3:39 a.m., and failed an ensuing breath test. Brennan was charged with two counts of DUI, improper lane use and and improper turn. He was released to appear in court. A customer at Whole Foods Market, 500 E. Ogden Ave., unknowingly attempted to pay for groceries with a counterfeit $50 bill at 1:26 p.m., police said. A Whole Foods employee determined the bill was counterfeit, police said. A machine at a 2nd Street bank was damaged in an attempted burglary last week, according to the Hinsdale Police Department.
Around the time two Hinsdale banks reported ATM tampering, police said someone attempted to burglarize an ATM at US Bank, 21 W. 2nd St., by prying it open sometime between 10:33 a.m. Feb. 3 and 10 a.m. Feb. 4. A bank employee discovered scratches and pry marks on the machine on Feb. 4, and the incident was reported to the Hinsdale Police Department on Feb. 5. The Hinsdale Police Department hopes residents in the area who have video surveillance systems will come forward.
The Hinsdale Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that took place in the 200 block of East Hickory Street Friday night between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., according to a police department release sent out Saturday. "Forced entry was made into the residence through a rear sliding door," the release reads. "Various pieces of jewelry were taken from a bedroom within the home." The release also detailed two attempted break-ins that took place in the same area last week.
