Fun for Hinsdale; Nuisance for Burr Ridge

Recent letter to the Village of Hinsdale outlines Burr Ridge's terms if the Hinsdale Platform Tennis Association gets its wish to add more courts in Katherine Legge Memorial Park.

The correspondence continues between Burr Ridge and Hinsdale regarding the wish to add additional courts in Hinsdale's Katherine Legge Memorial Park. The Hinsdale Platform Tennis Association wants to build more platform tennis courts in Katherine Legge Memorial Park, but some residents in Burr Ridge have made it clear that they do not want them. Burr Ridge residents, whose homes border the courts, don't want the added noise, and they don't bright lights shining into their yards. Platform tennis is similar to traditional outdoor tennis, but the courts are heated and the game can be played year-round. The courts must be lit at dusk, and Burr Ridge neighbors are worried about how the additional courts would impact them as the sport grows in …

Hinsdale Residents Open their Homes for Worthy Cause

American Association of University Women Home Tour 2010 held to raise scholarship money.

Hinsdale residents opened their homes on Sunday to give deserving women a chance to further their education. The 59th annual American Association of University Women Scholarship Home Tour gave people a chance to see inside five of Hinsdale's lovely homes. "People go into the homes, and an AAUW member acts as a tour guide to explain its architectural features, decorating features, architectural techniques used and the history of the home," said Gail Hahn, who conducted publicity for the home tour. "These are all occupied homes, and the owners have very graciously allowed us to come in to show them."
