All three men had arraignment hearings in DuPage County court on Monday, Pioneer Local reports.
All three men charged in the March 7 robbery of a juvenile that took place in an unincorporated area near Clarendon Hills plead not guilty in DuPage County court Monday, according to Pioneer Local. Kelechekwu Akuba, Leverenzel Booth and Jerron Wilbut made their pleas during separate hearings in front of Judge John Kinsella, who according to Pioneer Local informed the men that the state's attorney had filed aggravated robbery and armed robbery charges against the men in addition to the original robbery charges. The armed robbery charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, Pioneer Local reports. Brian Turner, 45, was arrested Nov. 24 and indicted Dec. 13 on multiple counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse tied to encounters between Oct. 26 and Nov. 22, records show. Turner remains in DuPage County Jail on $100,000 bail with a hearing scheduled for Dec. 27. The following are recent developments in notable DuPage County court cases: Elmhurst—Diego Garcia wants a judge to clarify the sentencing range he faces on armed robbery charges tied to a pair of holdups in 2011. Garcia was told he was eligible for between 21 to 45 years if convicted in both cases, but the DuPage County Public Defender's Office, suggests the range should actually be six to 30 years because a 15-year add-on for using a weapon during an armed robbery is improper, according to court records. That's because being armed is a fundamental element of an armed robbery charge, and not something that enhances possible penalties, documents show. David Quevedo was arrested in July after he implied he had a weapon while attempting to steal watches from The Clock & Watch Shop of Hinsdale.
A Chicago man initially charged with attempted robbery at the Clock & Watch Shop of Hinsdale pleaded guilty on Aug. 23 to one felony burglary count as part of a deal with prosecutors, court records show. David Quevedo was arrested in July after he went into the store, implied he had a weapon and demanded watches from the clerk. The 62-year-old woman working at the store began screaming and Quevedo fled without any merchandise, but was stopped by onlookers who heard the commotion. The Hinsdale Police Department honored one of the citizens who tracked down Quevedo. Quevedo was sentenced to 90 days in DuPage County Jail, with credit for half that amount as time served, put on 24 months of probation, and ordered to stay away from the store. …
