Hinsdale Man Resists Arrest, Charged With Battery in Darien

Police say the battery charge stems from a struggle that took place while trying to take the man into custody.

A man from unincorporated Hinsdale was arrested on the 800 Block of Plainfield Road in Darien on Nov. 6. Police said Victor A. Martinez, 21, of Marybeth Lane, was arrested around 2:20 a.m. Darien police said Martinez refused to get out of the car when asked to do so. "He physically had to be taken into custody," said Darien Deputy Police Chief Dave Skala. "He was calling officers names and was verbally abusive to officers." Skala said the battery charge stems from a struggle that occurred while they attempted to take Martinez into custody. Martinez was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, resisting an officer, battery, improper lane use, speeding, an improper turn, disobeying a red light and driving with a license suspended…

Man Faces Felony Charges for Punching Paramedic

What would have been considered a misdemeanor is being charged as a felony, because of the circumstances of the case.

A 68-year-old man is facing felony charges after punching a paramedic, while in the waiting room of Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. According to police, Kishor Ajmere, 68, of 906 Valencia Drive in Shorewood was with a member of his family who was received by the emergency room at the hospital. Police say Ajmere became "very agitated" while in the waiting room and punched a Pleasantview paramedic. Hospital officials say that incidents like this can occur in the emergency room, but the hospital is prepared to handle them. "Patient safety is our top priority, and we do have a security team at the hospital 24/7 for incidents like this," said Lisa Parro. "We work very closely with the Hinsdale Police Department."
