Senate Republican leader Christine Radogno cited the Hinsdale senator's "unique perspective and institutional knowledge" in making her appointment.
State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) will serve as the assistant Senate Republican leader during the new session of the Illinois General Assembly, according to a release from Dillard's office. The 24th District senator, who said after his November re-election that he's mulling a second run for governor in 2014, was asked to be part of Republican leadership by Senate Republican leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont), who cited Dillard's years as chief of staff to Gov. Jim Edgar and director of legislative affairs for Gov. James Thompson. “These experiences provide him with the unique perspective and institutional knowledge that will be invaluable to our caucus in the coming years,” Radogno said. “I know Kirk’s ability to work with our …

Dillard, a Hinsdale native, has represented the 24th District in the Illinois Senate since 1993.
State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is pondering another run for governor, according to a Daily Herald story published on Aug. 17. Dillard says his first priority is to get re-elected to his 24th Senate District seat in November—he's going up against Democrat A. Ghani—but at a recent Springfield event, the Herald quoted the senator as saying he's having talks "to assess what 2014 looks like." The Hinsdale native, who has represented the 24th since 1993, cited his experience as former Gov. Jim Edgar's chief of staff as something that makes him a good gubernatorial candidate, as well as his personal background. “I think the right template for the election of a Republican governor is a suburbanite with very strong downstate roots,” Dillard …

I would like to extend my congratulations to Senator Kirk Dillard in his victory this past Tuesday. On account of redistricting, we all faced difficult decisions and very unfortunate contests. While the race was spirited, it has been decided by the voters and they have decided on Senator Dillard. I welcome him into the new communities that I represent and ask that all of the people who supported me, welcome him as enthusiastically as I am. It's time to make sure that our party brings a unified voice to Springfield to accomplish the serious business of getting our state back on track. I believe Senator Dillard will be a leader in that effort as my new State Senator. Sincerely, Chris Nybo Candidate for State Senate District 24

Chris Nybo (R-Lombard) for the Republican nomination in Illinois' 24th Senate District in Tuesday's General Primary. The incumbent has served the 24th District since 1993. "I take this as a nice referendum on my leadership style," Dillard said over the phone after the win became official. "It shows that people understand results and want state legislators to work in collaboration without ever giving up their principles." With 100 percent of precincts reporting in both DuPage and Cook counties, Dillard had 19,145 total votes (62 percent) to Nybo's 11,928 (32 percent). The state senator gave a presentation Monday night at Elm School focused on the future of teacher pensions.
State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) spoke to the District 181 Board of Education Monday night at Elm School about several topics, but the main point of the 20-minute discussion was the future of teacher pensions. Dillard advocated increased communication between the school board and the senator's office about the future of teacher pensions, currently funded by the state, at a time when the Illinois government is in big fiscal trouble and may be looking to pass that funding responsibility on to local school boards and resident property taxes. Dillard said the board should be looking out for possible changes in April and May, which he called "crunch time" in Springfield because it's the end of the current legislative session. Dillard is …

For too long, politicians in Springfield have ignored fiscal realities and taken Illinois to the brink of financial ruin. Anything positive that has been accomplished pales in comparison to the financial neglect of our state. Politicians have focused on playing the game and protecting their turf, rather than serving Illinois and its citizens. Kirk Dillard has been in the Illinois Senate for nearly 20 years. Illinois needs a change, and as voters, we can make change happen. Chris Nybo is a hardworking parent who cares about his family and his state, as are I and many others. I met Chris after he rang my doorbell going to door-to-door to meet the voters. I believe he is a person who can tackle hard issues and take on the establishment to …

State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-24th, Westmont) has filed nominating petitions to be included on the ballot for the March 20 primary election. Senate candidates were required to file at least 1,000 signatures from qualified voters; Dillard filed 3,000 signatures. “I am pleased by the overwhelming support I received from over 100 volunteer supporters who helped me gather petition signatures, and I am further humbled and pleased that I was able to obtain many more than enough signatures to submit the maximum 3,000,” Dillard said. “The outpouring of support and enthusiasm from the people we talked with while gathering signatures was heartening.” An analysis of the petitions shows every community within Senate District 24 provided signatures. “…
