NAPERVILLE A woman who moved out of an apartment in the 200 block of East Bailey Road two months ago returned to the apartment May 15 and asked the property manager if she could get her belongings. She was told by the property manager that the apartment was cleaned out and she was not allowed to enter, police said. A resident then saw the woman scale the balconies to get to her old apartment on the third floor, but she was not able to gain entry, police said. Dillard said Friday he's pushing for state regulations that would help police investigate residential burglaries in the Chicago suburbs that involve jewelry theft.
The Hinsdale home of state Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is among those that have been burglarized this year and the senator says he's pushing for state legislation that will help local law enforcement investigate such burglaries. "I am trying to curtail the number of residential burglaries which has swept through the western suburbs ... and other parts of the city," Dillard said during a Friday morning conference call with media members. Dillard said by talking with suburban police officials he has learned that most of the residential burglars that have victimized residents in Hinsdale and the surrounding area steal jewelry they quickly sell to cash-for-gold businesses. Nearly 50 juveniles were issued citations for underage drinking at a May 10 party, Hinsdale police said. A total of 48 juveniles submitted to breath tests that indicated they had consumed alcohol. Police were dispatched at 8:07 p.m. to the party, which took place on the 700 block of North Oak Street, according to a report. "There were more than 50 people at the party," said Mark Wodka, Hinsdale deputy police chief, in an e-mail. "There were attendees that fled prior to and upon police arrival." The homeowner’s son was issued citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor and allowing persons under 21 to gather and consume alcohol on the property. A Burr Ridge doctor has been charged in a federal investigation into practitioners who allegedly defrauded Medicare and private insurance providers. Nalini Ahluwalia, 58, was charged Tuesday with one count of health care fraud for violating Medicare's anti-kickback statute in August 2012, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois. She is accused of referring two patients to a home health care agency in exchange for $1,000. Ahluwalia is among dozens of defendants charged in a nationwide crackdown through the Department of Justice and Department of Health and Services, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. A jury has found a Willow Springs man guilty of conspiring to kill a Darien family. Johnny Borizov was found guilty on all counts, including first-degree murder and solicitation of murder charges. The verdict was announced Tuesday evening at the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton. Although Judge Daniel Guerin told the crowded courtroom to withhold emotion during the verdict reading, a gasp was heard along with feet stomping. Many Kramer family members and friends hugged each other and cried openly as they left the courtroom, WBBM Newsradio reports.
