Wow....does anyone ever proof read these articles? This was painful to read....not just because thisRead More woman is being railroaded, but because the article reads like it was written by an illiterate 3rd grader. Lorraine Swanson, I'll attribute it to the early hour that you posted it but, could you PLEASE go back and correct the MANY errors?? "they all look for her red and white umbrella, letting them the buns and dogs are steamed, and she’s open for business." "Johnson, whose family-owned Classic Cinemas and Tivoli Enterprises are based in Downers Grove, owners several properties" " the spot across the street in City Centre is better location" and more....and if you cannot see the problem with these sentences, you need to find a new job.

who really is behind the action to push the HOT DOG LADY out? and what is their real agenda?

I can see you guys are confused, so I'll go slowly. I'll begin with Reagan's Economic Advisor,Read More David Stockman’s analysis of Romney, and follow with an example of an Illinois business, Sensata, that Bain destroyed in 2012. Don't forget Romney still makes money off Bain Capital. This is how Stockman describes Romney: Romney’s “Business Expertise” Often Destroyed American Businesses and Jobs. Romney claims he started a small business that grew because of his business skills. His “small business” - Bain Capital began with $37 million in capital from European and South American Investors. Romney was never an entrepreneur with talents for building companies on Main Street. In contrast, Romney is a Wall Street financial speculator who bought control of businesses via leveraged investments, and flipped them for profit after giving them the appearance of healthy growth. The whole business of private-equity is about maximizing debt, extracting cash, outsourcing production, and glorifying the deal for the fastest, highest profit sale possible. Bain Capital repeatedly “harvested” companies leaving the stake holders and workers holding the bag. One Example: Sensata Technologies, Freeport Illinois, manufactured auto parts. Bain Capital-owned Sensata Technologies, where 170 workers lost their jobs by the end of 2012. The lost manufacturing jobs were relocated to China. Bain Capital invited Chinese workers to the plant to be trained by Sensata workers to do their jobs. Mitt Romney helped found Bain Capital, and will benefit financially from this outsourcing of good paying jobs to China. Workers from Sensata pleaded with Romney to intervene to prevent the off- shoring of their jobs. Romney never responded to their requests. Sensata was a profitable company, but vulture capitalists steal workers jobs, retirement funds, and worker benefits to get filthy rich. Workers in China make from 11 cents to $0.58/hour to work 10-14 hour days, 6-7 days per week. I saw Romney excitingly raving with glee about these dreadful worker conditions while his audience sat spell bound. This is the scumbag that you supported.

When you can answer 70% of these questions, then you have done enough home work to be taken seriously. Otherwise you are just repeating Limbaugh non-sense, Rush flunked out of College, and Beck, Walker, and Cheney did not finish their college programs. That's why Jindal said, Republicans have got to stop being the party of stupids!! 1. Henry Paulsen from 2005 - 2007 put ___? Treasury Dollars into the economy to spur it, and told the banks to leverage it _____? times for a total of over $64 trillion. Fill in the blanks. Explain the process, and why it caused false housing demand and the housing bubble that destroyed the world economy. 2. Lehman Bros. went broke and dragged down the world's economy by busting the buck, which caused the stock market to drop over 1,600 points in 3 days, and caused the $151 Trillion per year Commercial Paper Market to collapse. a. Explain the Commercial Paper Market, b. explain why Lehman's went broke, and c. explain why the Fed in Oct 2008 had to put 3.4 $ Trillion into the Commercial Paper Market to stop the stock crash, and d. explain why Paulsen was forced to break Federal Law by putting money from the Treasury into the Commercial Paper Market, which is totally separate from the Federal Reserve Banking System.

Bring jobs by encouraging new businesses, expanding existing ones, encourage R&D, internshipsRead More for students and teachers, give incentives for hiring, particularly the unemployed, encourage home ownership, energy conservation, incentives to get off the vices, like drugs. Convert firearms to ploughs and high tech tools, cars and robots. These will all add revenues and taxes, and we could go back to the good old days of 2 or 3% state income tax. Look at the states with zero state income tax: WA, TX, FL, Arizona, NM, Oegon and others: they are all pro-business, which means more jobs and sales/excise taxes. I hate going to Chicago to pay outrageous parking fees. No such problem in beautiful suburbs like Oakbrook. Bring more jobs to suburbs and the country side. Give incentives to farmers. Why are more ag businesses in Iowa, WI and MN than in IL? I want to start a business which in 3-5 years could add as many as 100 jobs. I went to my village: no incentives! Wyming is giving us "no taxes for 10 years". Wake up IL politicians!

Dear Edward ,You miss understood what I said, I worked there 30 yrs ago not worked for them for 30Read More yrs. I worked there for 5 yrs in the earily 1980's to the late 1980's. You might might believe this ,but under the last 2 assessor's the office has becomed 100% more open/accessible to their information. The stystem is broken, but this would take a tremenious undertaking to revamp the whole system from top to bottom. This would be like taking on the under funded pention that still hasn't been fully addressed except on the back end some 20 to 30 yrs from now ! I did my best to help the tax payers of Cook County & that's one of the reason's why I left the Assessor's office ! I got removed as an analysis, working on the appeals for them since my production wass 40-50% less then everyone in the department. Why, because I was taking the extra time to give everyone a fair break on their assessment through the loop holes that I learned. I got removed & they put in Tax payer Assistance counter, on the phones to answer questions & then on reachout. I was there in the 1980's for the first 100 yrs flood in Des Plaines. I help homeowners write up their compliants for them.

No - 'John', I'm not proposing to 'spend trillions on the children' - though we did spend such onRead More Iraq and Afghanistan, as an aside. What I'd suggest is that we cut the number of taxing bodies in Illinois down from the nearly 7,000 [the most - by far, of any state in the nation] to under 250. Get rid of townships - they're an antiqauted concept and redundant, at best. Combine duplicative administrative government entities, e.g., sanitation, water, etc, 'districts.' Eliminate patronage. Establish term limits. Require high-school seniors across the state to take a meaninfgul standardized test before they're allowed to graduate. If students can't pass standardized tests at the end of each year of school - hold 'em back. For the long term unemployed - those who are illiterate in English, require 30 hours a week of English language classes for them to receive Illinois State Medicaid, Sec. 8 housing subsidies, food-stamps, etc. For those who are literate and physically able, require 30 hours a week of public-service and 10 hours a week of documented job-searches. For any company doing business in Illinois to get a tax-break, job creation and/or job-training must be allocated to equal no less than 50% of the tax-breaks. There are entirely too many freeloading companies in Illinois. Establish a 2% payroll tax on non-residents who work in Illinois, being those from the border states of Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and Kentucky [Iowa and Indiana are so called 'right to work' states that attract businesses away from Illinois and which deflate the value of labor]. Establish minimum standardized test scores for admission to State of Illinois universities. Require Illinois to fund the 'primary' costs of public education in Illinois. Require Illinois to eliminate defined benefit pension plans for ALL state employees [private industry began doing that over 20 years ago]. Establish an education surtax on parents with more than two children in the public schools, for each child beyond the two. Provide a tax-credit to families whose children attend private schools [non-religious only] equal to 1/2 of the educational contribution that the state makes per child {for up to two children}. Require teachers on the public payroll to be truly fluent in English - written and spoken. Limit - as a percentage, the number of non-resident and/or foreign national enrollments in the state's institutions of higher learning {to no more than 20% - undergraduate and/or graduate}. Establish cooperative work-study programs with Illinois-based businesses and the students in the state's public universities. Etc, etc, etc. There's a lot that COULD be done and that SHOULD be done, but, will we [Illinois] do it/them? Hardly! This is... the dire state of the State of Illinois.

The rising cost of college and choking student debt is an unnecessary tragedy because there are manyRead More good reasonably priced regionally accredited colleges. But, alas, cost is seldom considered. Instead, students justify expensive schools thinking they will earn more when they graduate. The New York Times recently reported on two studies which show that equally smart students earn the same whether they attend an expensive college or a less expensive college. Online learning should be considered by cost conscious students. Low cost options are available because online students can choose from thousands of regionally accredited colleges. To illustrate the affordability of online options consider that a Bachelor in Business Management from Western Governors University costs only $23,120. See Search results: http://www.degreesanywhere.com/Degrees.aspx?DegreeTypeId=2&FieldOfStudyId=2802#.UyMX4_ldV8E Or a BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Edison State College costs only $22,800. See Search results: http://www.degreesanywhere.com/Degrees.aspx?DegreeTypeId=2&FieldOfStudyId=2953#.UyMdR_ldV8E An MBA is offered by Eastern New Mexico University for only $6,240. See Search results: http://www.degreesanywhere.com/Degrees.aspx?DegreeTypeId=3&FieldOfStudyId=707#.UyMbOvldV8E All three colleges have regional accreditation so all are equal to expensive colleges in the eyes of most employers. There is no need to pay more and go deep in debt!

What happened to all the great low cost colleges in America? Nothing! There are many excellentRead More reasonably priced regionally accredited colleges around. The wisdom and knowledge that Crosby brings to the table should be respected. My eldest, whoRead More graduated from Hinsdale Central in 2007, spoke of heroin being available 'everywhere' back then. Because people are just now becoming aware of its wide-spread use, it's the 'new big problem'? Crosby is right. It's been around for longer than we want to admit. Maybe the more accurate identification of fatal overdoses, or maybe stronger heroin with additives, or maybe we're just telling the truth more often these days all help to bring this out into the open. If Crosby has been investigating heroin use by kids for 10 years, she is indeed an 'expert'. We ought to listen to her.

Gary: I think Grampa Mike fails to understand the complexities of the world outside his microcosmRead More and is not particularly bright on matters of the human condition.
