Hinsdale Has Plenty of Affordable Homes Compared to Other 'Pricey' Towns

If you're hunting for a moderately priced home this weekend, you might not want to rule out Hinsdale, Chicago Real Estate Daily reports.

Shopping for a reasonably priced home this weekend? Don't rule out Hinsdale.

Among the Chicago area's priciest real-estate markets, Hinsdale's has the second-most listings priced at less than $500,000, according to Chicago Real Estate Daily.

Despite having a median sale price of $875,000, the Hinsdale market contains 14 houses under a half-million. Among the 10 priciest Chicago suburbs, only Wilmette has more with 18.

Lake Forest is No. 3 with eight, followed by Long Grove's five and Riverwoods' three. Winnetka, Glencoe and Kildeer each have only two, South Barrington has one, and Kenilworth has zero.

"Such homes have always been coveted by young couples from the city seeking a top-tier school district for their children," the Chicago Real Estate Daily report reads. "But demand is picking up this year amid the stronger city condo market, allowing them to sell there and buy in the suburbs, said Prudential Rubloff broker Scott Meland, who is listing a two-bedroom Wilmette home for $339,000."
