Hinsdale Couple Honored for Donations to Health System

Mary and William Ryan received an award for support of Loyola University Health System's Center for Heart and Vascular Medicine.

On May 21, Hinsdale residents Mary and William Ryan were presented with the President's Medal for Distinguished Service during the Loyola University Health System Gala at the university's medical center campus in Maywood, according to a Loyola University Health System release.

Loyola senior media specialist Evie Polsley could not supply an exact amount the Ryans have donated to Loyola, but said they have continuously supported the school's Center for Heart and Vascular Medicine, which is named in the couple's honor.

More than 350 people attended the gala, the release said.

"The Loyola University Health System Gala brings together our most generous friends who care deeply about the future of our world-class clinical programs," said Karen Lewis Alexander, senior vice president for development and external affairs. "We spend days transforming our medical center campus into a breathtaking dinner-dance venue so that the setting matches the celebratory mood of this special evening."

Gala guests got a trolley tour of the campus after cocktails in the hospital’s lobby. A tent stood at the south end of the campus, where the guests dined.
