National Postal Food Drive

I run the food pantry at HCS Family Services, located in the Memorial Building next to the Hinsdale Library. I would like to bring to your attention the National annual Postal Food Drive called ‘Stamped out Hunger’. This Food drive invites our entire zip code to  participate in ending hunger in our own backyard. The good citizens of Hinsdale can really help us with this daunting task. The Post Office is asking everyone to put unexpired food in a bag and place it near their mailbox or front door on Saturday May 12th to be picked up by their mail person and delivered to the food pantry at  HCS Family Services that very day. The food pantry at HCS Family Services serves the villages of  Burr Ridge , Clarendon Hills, Darien, Hinsdale Oakbrook, Westmount and Willowbrook. We have a free choice food pantry that is open M-W-F from 9:30am to 12:30 pm. We offer two different kinds of pantries, our onsite free choice food pantry and our monthly mobile food pantry that runs out of Willowbrook. In total we serve upwards of 500 families a month. In the last two years our clientele base has increased over 80%, keeping our shelves stocked is challenging work.
