Red Devils Victorious in Overtime

Brad Anlauf's interception put the game in OT. Final score: Hinsdale Central, 27; St. Charles North, 26.

Opening night of the 2011 football season was a good night for Hinsdale South. The Red Devils beat St. Charles North High School's North Stars Friday in what the Daily Herald called a "heartbreaker."

Red Devils coach Rich Tarka rotated quarterbacks, Brian Owens and Danny Callahan, throughout the game. Tarka told The Doings: "We have two starters as far as I’m concerned."

Callahan's keen playing—including a 46-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Kelleher—sparked the offense in the first half. And, Owens ran the ball and tied the game at 20 and set the stage for overtime. He scored in OT to make it a 27-20 game.
