As parents start to get ready to send their kids back to school, school athletics are gearing up for another year. The Hornet Swim Club, which is open to all young people in local communities, is holding tryouts today at the in Burr Ridge.
Here's the schedule:
- 8:30 a.m. for returning club members & siblings of current members
- 9:00 a.m. for new 10 & under swimmers
- 9:45 a.m. for new 11 & over swimmers
Families with swimmers in more than one age groups can attend either time slot.
The Hornet Swim Club aims to help swimmers improve their swimming abilities and develop confidence, strength, and discipline while having fun through competitive swimming.
The club holds practices at in Darien and Downers North High School in Downers Grove.
"We provide professional coaches who are educated and experienced in competitive swimming. These coaches create an atmosphere that is safe, fun, and educational for all levels of swimming. Our coaches also create a structure that will provide swimmers the opportunity to achieve the very highest levels of competitive swimming," said the club in a media announcement about the tryouts.
In addition to the Hornet Swim Club's existing competitive groups, this season the club is offering a new instructional group for young people who are new to competitive swimming or those who are interested in swimming just to get in shape.
