Hinsdale Central Boys Cross Country Takes State Title

It's the first boys cross country title in the history of Hinsdale Central.

Hinsdale Central claimed its third state title of the fall after the boys cross country team placed four runners in the top 30 Saturday at Detweiller Park in Peoria to win their first state championship in school history. 

Senior Billy Magnesen led the way for the Red Devils with a seventh-place finish among runners in the team competition at 14:41. Magnesen was followed by No. 18 Kevin Huang at 15:01, No. 19 TJ Caveney at 15:02 and No. 23 Blake Evertsen at 15:06.
 
Chris Brenk was No. 32 at 15:13, Matt McBrien was No. 45 at 15:22, and Emmett Scully was No. 82 at 15:38.

The top five places of each squad competing in the team competition were added together for the team score. Hinsdale Central's overall score of 99 bested Downers Grove North's 144 and O'Fallon's 157.

O'Fallon's Patrick Perrier was the individual 3A champion with a time of 14:21.
