Football Playoffs: Hinsdale Central Gets No. 5 Seed, Faces OPRF in First Round

The two teams met earlier this month, when the Huskies came from behind to beat the Red Devils in overtime.

Three weeks after Oak Park-River Forest came back from 21 points down to beat Hinsdale Central in overtime, the Red Devils will get their shot at revenge.

According to the IHSA football playoff brackets released over the weekend, Hinsdale Central will host OPRF this weekend in the first round of the 8A tournament. The particular day and time for the game has not yet been set.

The Red Devils finished the 2012 season with a 7-2 overall record; the Huskies are 6-3. A three-game win streak this fall propelled OPRF, who ran off wins against Lyons Township, Hinsdale Central and Morton from Sept. 28 to Oct. 12.

In the Oct. 5 game in Hinsdale, Huskies running back Jakari Cammon finished the game with 206 yards on 17 carries. He scored his third touchdown in overtime touchdown and ran in an all-or-nothing two-point conversion to give OPRF the thrilling road win.

Hinsdale Central led 28-7 in the first quarter after turning two Cammon fumbles into two Brian Owens touchdown passes. Owens finished the game 5 of 16 for 93 yards. He threw one interception in addition to the two touchdowns.

Running back Jack Adams ran for 191 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries.

The winner of the first-round game will face the winner of Waubonsie Valley (No. 4 seed) and Proviso West (No. 13 seed) in the second round.

Congratulations to Dr. Jane Dillon, who as her patient while in private practice, I have known to beRead More a caring, skilled, and excellent doctor when I had serious medical problems related to my ears. While her new position will help many, I personally will miss her being in private practice.
