Volley for the Cure

In recognition of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Hinsdale Central High School will be hosting “Volley for the Cure” on Thursday, October 20th.  The girls volleyball teams hope to raise awareness and funds for the fight against this life threatening disease.

“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer.  Volley for the Cure this year is about sister schools coming together to raise money for the fight against breast cancer,” said Hinsdale Central High School varsity head coach Sheralynn Kellough.

The annual rivalry and benefit alternates between Hinsdale South and Hinsdale Central High Schools. The games will be played at Hinsdale Central High School at 55th & Grant Streets as follows:

Freshman A - 4:00 p.m. field house

Freshman B - 5:00 p.m. field house

Sophomore - 5:00 p.m. main gym

Varsity - 6:00 p.m. main gym

Admission to “Volley for the Cure” will be a donation to Susan G. Komen Foundation.  A raffle, silent auction, bake sale, and t-shirt and bracelet sales will also be part of the “Volley for the Cure” event.

“The rivalry between Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South is sure to result in intense competition in the volleyball games, but what a wonderful way to have our girls work together for a great cause - to raise money to help find a cure for cancer,” added Coach Kellough.
