Boys Basketball: Hinsdale South Routs Willowbrook in Season Finale

The Hot Read: Hinsdale South Hornets coach Vince Doran started senior reserves in their final game against the host Willowbrook Warriors. After Hinsdale South struggled to score in the first four minutes, the Hornets jumped to a 7-0 scoring run to build a 14-8 first-quarter lead. The Hornets continued their success with a 12-0 scoring run in the second quarter as they held the Warriors to an eight-minute scoring drought. In the third quarter Hinsdale South went on another 12-0 scoring run to lead 43-16 entering the final quarter.

Key stats: The Hornets outscored Willowbrook 15-4 in the second quarter, and 14-4 in the third. The Warriors failed to connect between late in the first quarter to near the end of the second quarter for an eight-minute scoring drought. The Warriors suffered 18 turnovers, which led 22 points for Hinsdale South.

Best play: After a Warriors' turnover, junior Johnny Jasper sprinted down the lane with a three-on-two advantage. In one motion, Jasper faked the pass to junior Dijon James on the baseline and dished the ball to senior Romund Duffie for an easy lay-in.
