She is also involved with radio, Ambassadors, Peer Leadership Network, and is the president of the National Honor Society (NHS). Key to Awesomeness: Fung has a busy schedule throughout the school year.

"My time is mostly spent on sports," she said. "I like sports [even though] I don't really excel in them, but it's something I love and I would never give it up."

In her other activities, Fung has maintained several different leadership roles. In her church's youth group, Fung is a member of its student leadership team and is in charge of service project ministry.

"It's taught me a lot about caring for other people," she said, noting that her duties as president of NHS "overlap" with her church group duties, as she also organizes events for her fellow NHS members.

Fung also enjoys being a member of Ambassadors, a group that welcomes new students to Hinsdale South with events such as an annual picnic.

"The best part is that Mrs. Jacobson, the sponsor, makes sure we make friends with new students."

What’s Next: Fung hasn't yet decided where she'll attend college next year, but she's hoping to major in journalism.

"My dream job would probably involve writing," Fung said.

She is also considering studying international relations due to her love of travel. Fung has spent time in Hong Kong and Thailand visiting family, has traveled to Europe with her parents, and spent two months last summer teaching English to grade school children in India. And although she hasn't made any big decisions yet, Fung said that her dream school would be the University of Pennsylvania.

"Since it's right in Philadelphia, I would have a lot of opportunities to get internships there," she said.
