Teachers' Union Donates $1,000 to District 181 Foundation

The District 181 Foundation offers several types of grants, including funding for innovative teacher proposals, community programs, and student projects.

The District 181 Foundation recently received a check for $1,000 from the Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Teachers’ Association. The check presentation occurred at the March 15 at the Foundation Board monthly meeting. Erika Sajpel, HCHTA treasurer, represented her organization. 

“The fundraising and hard work of the foundation have not gone unnoticed, and we truly appreciate all that you are doing for the community in which we work,” Justin Horne, HCHTA President, said in a letter to the Foundation. “The teachers and students, whether direct recipients of grants or not, all benefit from the foundation’s investment in the future.”

The Foundation offers several types of grants, including funding for innovative teacher proposals, community programs, and student projects. In addition, the Foundation supports teacher training in inquiry-based learning and special initiatives in the area of science and technology. Recent large projects include the wind turbine at  and the Outdoor Learning Center at , both designed to enhance science education. The next round of teachers’ grants is expected to be announced in May. Community Partnership grants and K.I.D.S. grants are awarded on an ongoing basis. “The D181 Foundation accepts this generous donation from the HCHTA on behalf of all of our students who learn each and every day from the finest teachers in the world. Further, we will continue to work with the innovators of our schools to develop learning opportunities that enrich the education of all students,” Foundation Board President Nancy Pollak said.
