Longtime Hinsdale Central Tech, English Teachers Among D86's 2013 Retirees

Eight Hinsdale Central retirees were recognized at the District 86 Board of Education meeting on May 20.

Two longtime teachers were among the eight retiring Hinsdale Central certified staff and educational support personnel recognized by the District 86 Board of Education at its May 20 meeting.

Technology teacher and activities director Pamela Kalafut and English teacher Sibyl Krucoff are both retiring this spring after 34 and 33.5 years of service to District 86, respectively.

Longtime Hinsdale Central support personnel retiring this year include data entry clerk Vivian Kane (30 years) and custodian Andre Gagnon (27 years).

All of the District 86 retirees are listed below.

Krucoff, who interviewed for her Hinsdale Central job in 1979, said she looked back at her job application from that year and saw that she had written that providing students with a "well-rounded education" is one of society's most challenging and most necessary professions.

"Now, 33-and-a-half years later, I still hold those same beliefs," Krucoff said. "Although I would add that not only is teaching a necessary and rewarding profession, but it is the most noble of professions."
