Janet Stutz Leaving D181 for Orland Superintendent Job

The assistant superintendent for learning has been with District 181 since 2008.

Another District 181 administrator is moving on to a new district as superintendent. 

Asssistant Superintendent for Learning Janet Stutz, who has worked as a District 181 administrator since 2008, was selected by the Orland School District 135 school board for the superintendent's role, according to announcements Thursday from the two districts.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with the best educators in the state," Stutz said in a District 181 press release. "I will take with me the wonderful memories and cherished relationships that I have developed with the District 181 staff and community over the years, and I look forward to the new journey that lies ahead.”

Former Assistant Superintendent for Business Troy Whalen and former Associate Superintendent Mary Ticknor both left District 181 last summer to take superintendent jobs.

Prior to her work with District 181, Stutz served as assistant principal and principal at schools in Yorkville and Oswego. She oversaw the opening of Homestead Elementary and Bednarcik Junior High within Oswego Community Unit School District 308, the District 135 announcement reads.

Her education includes a Bachelor’s in education from Elmhurst College. Stutz also earned a Master’s in educational leadership and a Doctorate in educational administration from Aurora University.

The District 135 board is scheduled to make the official vote on Stutz’s appointment at the Jan. 14, 2013, meeting.

Stutz will begin as superintendent on July 1, 2013, pending the board's final approval.

“We are happy for Dr. Stutz in being given this exciting opportunity," District 181 Superintendent Renée Schuster said in the District 181 release. "She has done so much to advance the learning of District 181 students and the professional development of our staff while providing support and communication to families and the community.

"Dr. Stutz will be missed by the District 181 community, and we wish her a successful future with Orland School District 135.”
