HMS 8th Graders Leave for Washington DC

As Americans remember their military heroes on Veteran's Day, Hinsdale Middle School 8th-graders are headed to our nation's capital for a field trip from Nov. 11 - 13. Hinsdale Middle School would like to remind 8th grade families of the following for the Washington, DC trip:

 * Students can bring one personal item (backpack or purse) and one carry-on piece of luggage no larger than 9 x 14 x 22. (Remember airline restrictions for liquids and gels - 3 oz containers in a quart sized zipper bag.)

 * Buses and bus leaders will be on the SOUTH side of the HMS building, in the bus loading zone on Third Street. Children should find their bus leader when they arrive. Buses 1 - 4 all arrive at 3:15 a.m. so PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN BRINGING YOUR CHILD. If you park on the north side of the building, please walk your child around to the south side.

 * On Tuesday, November 9, students will receive a packet containing flight information, a list of other students on the bus, an itinerary and copy of Do's and Don't's to review. They should bring this information home to you. (Please note: When it says "Meal Money" on the itinerary that has been included in the cost of the trip. Students will be given money for that meal. You do not need to send money for food unless you think your child will want more.)

 * Finally, please check the weather forecast as we get closer to the date. The 10-day forecast right now is showing highs in the low 60s; lows in the 40s. A jacket is a must and maybe rain gear; students will be outside for some portions of the tour.
