District 181 Artists Featured at New York City Convention

The students' art was selected to be part of the Artsonia BigScreen Project.

The following is a release from Community Consolidated School District 181:

Two District 181 students were recently featured artists on the Artsonia BigScreen Project in New York City. Rei Hemmer, grade 3, , and Lauren Olferchik, grade 3, , were among 504 artists nominated by their teachers for display during the National Association of Art Educators national convention.

Each piece appeared on the 30-foot by 16-foot outdoor screen for about 20 seconds during the evenings of March 2 and March 3. The names of the art teachers who submitted the work were also displayed. Hilary Andrlik of Walker and Therese McGee of Monroe were the teachers.
