Hinsdale Real Estate Market Sees 50 Percent Sales Increase

The number of homes sold in Hinsdale in September 2013 was significantly higher than the number of sales in September 2012.

The 24 single, detached homes sold in Hinsdale during September 2013 represented a 50 percent increase over September 2012, when 16 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

September's year-over-year increase was not, however, as great as August's, when the 39 homes sold in 2013 more than doubled the 18 sold in 2012.

The median home price of sold Hinsdale homes increased year-over-year along with the number of sales in September. The median price rose 35 percent from $692,500 in September 2012 to $935,000 in September 2013, according to the statistics.

In DuPage County, Darien experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, with Burr Ridge and Downers Grove also seeing big jumps. Burr Ridge  also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 69 percent. 

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
