New Hinsdale Village Manager Hired

Kathleen Gargano, currently an assistant village manager in Wilmette, has accepted an offer from the board of trustees and will become Hinsdale's first female village manager.

The Hinsdale Board of Trustees announced in a release Tuesday afternoon that Kathleen Gargano has accepted its offer to replace Dave Cook as village manager.

Gargano has worked for the last 16 years at the Village of Wilmette, where she currently serves as assistant village manager. Gargano, the first woman hired to be Hinsdale's village manager, was picked from 125 applicants and 17 interviewed candidates, the village release states.

She is expected to begin her new job on Sept. 9.

“Kathleen is extremely well qualified to be Hinsdale’s village manager, and she is eager to start working in Hinsdale,” Village President Tom Cauley said in the release. “The village board couldn’t be more pleased with the selection of Kathleen as Hinsdale’s new village manager.”

Gargano has a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration, both from Northern Illinois.

According to the release, Gargano “will be responsible for managing and directing the overall operations of the village and for administering the policies set by the village board of trustees.”

She will replace Dave Cook, who left the village in July after 23 years of service. Cook was village manager for seven years.
