The gates protecting the grade crossing at Prospect Avenue on the BNSF Railway have been in the failsafe mode, or in the down position, since early Wednesday morning due to interference from Commonwealth Edison, according to a Metra.com message posted at 4:03 p.m. on Wednesday.
ComEd is working on the problem.
Until it is fixed, trains will be passing through the crossing at reduced speeds, which may delay trains by a few minutes, and vehicular traffic will not be able to use Prospect Ave.
Check the Metra website for more updates.
