'Interim' Label Taken Off Community Development Director's Title

Dan Ungerleider was hired as Clarendon Hills' permanent community development director after serving as the interim director for the last several months.

At their meeting on Oct. 1, the Clarendon Hills Village Board approved the appointment of Dan Ungerleider as the village's director of community development.

Ungerleider was appointed after an extensive search process and was selected from a pool of highly qualified candidates. He has served as the village’s interim community development director since June. 

“I’m excited for the opportunity to work with the staff, residents and business owners of Clarendon Hills,” Ungerleider said. “This is a great community with a lot to offer.”

Ungerleider has more than 20 years of experience in municipal community development, including as director of community development for Mundelein, and as a planner in Mount Prospect and Schaumburg. He also experienced working for residential development firm, DRH Cambridge Homes. Ungerleider also served for several years at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, which provided experience and knowledge of regional development issues. These experiences fit well with the needs of Clarendon Hills as it moves forward to address the challenges that lie ahead.  

“Dan demonstrated a problem-solving approach to working with local business and property owners, and a commitment to strengthening our relationships in the development community during his interim work with Clarendon Hills,” village manager Randy Recklaus said. “This, in addition to his past experience,made him stand out from a pool of excellent candidates.”
